Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a PICU night shift weekends-only position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring RRT certification and pediatric critical care experience.

Details

• Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Teaching and Magnet-designated hospital
• 323 inpatient beds including 70 NICU beds
• Weekends-only schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights (19:00-07:30)
• 3-4 shifts per week, 3x12 hour night shifts
• Floating required within scope of practice, including between NICU/PICU/CICU for all ages; no floating to sister facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Any solid color scrubs required, no logos, child-friendly attire required

Requirements

• License required if applicable
• RRT, BLS, and PALS certifications required prior to start
• NRP certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; 3+ years recent experience strongly preferred for first-time travelers
• NICU/PICU experience preferred
• Pediatric experience strongly preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skills in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experience with arterial blood gas interpretation
• Experience with airway management including suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including nasal CPAP and umbilical blood gases
• Experience with medication administration via aerosol and nebulizer delivery systems

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to pediatric and neonatal patients in a critical care setting
• Work as part of a pediatric and neonatal critical care team
• Complete pre-start training modules prior to orientation
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate with no mileage restriction
• Returning candidates must have been separated from the facility for at least one year
