POSITION SUMMARYBorgWarner Drivetrain and Morse Systems (DMS) is currently looking for a collaborative, results-driven Engineering Project Manager (EPM) to lead the development and launch of drivetrain system solutions at the Propulsion Technical Center (PTC) in Auburn Hills, MI. This role will primarily support mechanical drivetrain products such as transfer cases and axle disconnect systems, with regular interface to software and electrical hardware teams as part of the overall product solution.As an EPM, you will serve as the primary technical interface to the customer and the engineering interface to Program Management and Sales. You will provide project management leadership for a cross-functional technical team from pursuit through launch and post-production support, ensuring project work products are delivered on time, meet internal and external customer expectations, and support manufacturable, validated product designs. The candidate should possess sufficient experience in automotive product development, strong mechanical engineering judgment, customer-facing communication skills, and the ability lead and build alignment in cross functional teams.KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Serve as the primary technical interface to the customer for assigned drivetrain programs.• Serve as the primary engineering interface to Program Management and Sales during pursuit, development, launch, and post-production support.• Lead cross-functional technical product development activities for mechanical drivetrain products, primarily transfer cases and axle disconnect systems.• Coordinate engineering activities across mechanical design, systems, software, electrical hardware, validation, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and supplier teams as required by the program scope.• Develop, maintain, and communicate engineering project timing, deliverables, risks, issues, and open actions.• Provide change management and problem resolution leadership, including identification, planning, tracking, escalation, and closure of technical changes and issues.• Support engineering project estimates and maintain fiscal responsibility for engineering expenses, budget tracking, and forecasting.• Prepare and present clear project status, technical summaries, risks, and recommendations to internal leadership and customers.• Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve engineering execution, launch readiness, and customer satisfaction.• Foster teamwork by actively seeking collaboration, encouraging open communication, and helping the team resolve conflicts constructively.JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Mechanical Engineering degree preferred. Electrical Engineering or related technical degree may be considered with relevant mechanical drivetrain experience.• Typically, 5 to 8 years of automotive engineering, systems engineering, or technical project management experience, including responsibility for leading cross-functional product development activities through validation and launch. • Strong mechanical product development experience is required. Experience with drivetrain systems such as transfer cases, axle disconnect systems, driveline components, or related automotive products is preferred. • Working knowledge of software-controlled and electronically actuated systems is desirable to effectively coordinate multidisciplinary product development teams. • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority and to build alignment across engineering, program management, sales, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and customers.• Strong customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to communicate project status, risks, technical issues, and recovery plans clearly and professionally.• Excellent organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills required.• Experience developing and maintaining project timelines, tracking open issues, supporting engineering budget forecasts, and escalating risks appropriately.• Proficient in English language required.• Knowledge of APQP and Automotive SPICE preferred.• Experience with problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and 5 Phase preferred.• Working knowledge of DFMEA, DRBTR, DRBFM, and ADVP&R preferred.• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and launch readiness expectations preferred.REQUIRED CORE COMPETENCIES• Customer Focus• Building Effective Teams• Communication• Listening• Problem Solving• Action Oriented• Process Management• Conflict Management• Dealing with Ambiguity• Organizational Agility#LI-MIE21#LI-onsite#LI-hybrid-Salary Range:Internal Use Only: SalaryGlobal Terms of Use and Privacy StatementCarefully read the BorgWarner Privacy Policy before using this website.
