Health Promotion Outreach, Events, and Resources Fellow Job Summary Our mission at Healthyhorns is to enhance the health and well‑being of students’ bodies, minds and lives in support of their academic and personal goals. The Longhorn Wellness Center (LWC) provides health promotion, outreach, and resource distribution activities across campus. This fellowship is a one‑year term with the possibility of extension for one additional year, not to exceed two years in total. The position is full time, 40 hours per week, and works 100% onsite. Purpose Implement outreach, event planning, and resource distribution activities for the Longhorn Wellness Center while gaining professional experience in a college health promotion office. Key Responsibilities Respond to requests for outreach events such as tabling or other campus events. Coordinate representation of LWC at campus events and outreach opportunities in partnership with the Healthyhorns outreach coordinator and other staff. Provide training and coordinate peer educator presence at LWC events and outreach. Assemble materials for events, including literature, health supplies, and related items. Create and sustain outreach tracking processes. Plan and implement strategic events, participate in collaborative events, and seek new opportunities to provide outreach about health and well‑being on campus. Facilitate workshops as appropriate. Oversee event planning logistics and coordination for the office. Assist with health promotion initiatives as needed. Manage day‑to‑day operations of campus safer‑sex supply distribution. Collaborate with the Senior Administrative Program Coordinator to create, track, and maintain sleep‑kit distribution processes. Assist with creation, dissemination, and tracking of other LWC related materials and resources. Build and maintain collaborative relationships to increase the reach of LWC wellness resource distribution. Identify opportunities for placing health‑promoting resources in new campus locations. Suggest updates for the LWC website landing page monthly; manage event information and timely programming updates on the LWC website. Update various campus event calendars with LWC outreach events and information (e.g., Texas Today calendar, Division Communicators document, and other central sources). Support development of LWC informational and outreach materials. Support implementation of initiatives within the LWC core health topic areas. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with student organizations, student leaders, on‑campus departments, faculty, staff, and community groups. Participate in LWC committees and other campus committees as an active participant to advance campus health goals. Contribute ideas and engage in problem‑solving in program development and planning meetings. Create program plans for health promotion initiatives, including evidence‑based foundations, clear objectives, learning outcomes, timelines, and evaluation plans. Use assessment methods to understand student needs and evaluate program efficacy. Develop programmatic budgets and submit funding proposals for new needs. Keep up to date with current best practices and relevant college health frameworks. Attend meetings as assigned and respond to emails in a timely manner. Actively participate in LWC team efforts, including staff development. Complete other duties as needed and/or as directed by supervisor or other leaders. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, higher education, social work, or related field or equivalent experience. Prior work or volunteer experience with the LWC, SHIFT, and/or the Center for Students in Recovery. Demonstrated experience using innovative technology and engagement methods to enhance outreach efforts. Ability to manage multiple complex job duties and project‑based work; high‑level organizational skills. Knowledge of current/emerging college health issues, intervention methods, health behavior change theories, ecological framework, and/or evidence‑based practices. Experience designing and delivering programs to differing populations. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability in core areas of health promotion, public health program planning, and assessment/evaluation. Demonstrated experience in building partnerships, strategic planning, curriculum development, and/or project management. Extensive knowledge of and experience working on issues surrounding health promotion, harm reduction, and/or culture change. Work experience within a higher education setting or with the college student population.
