Kitchen Helper Location: Millard Public Schools NORTH HIGH - Omaha, Nebraska This position is also posted in Millard Public Schools. Job Details Starting Date: Aug 7, 2026. Position Type: Part‑time. Salary: $18.83 per hour. Job Categories: Support Staff > Food Service. Job Description Hiring for the 26‑27 school year — 10‑month position, 6 hours per day. Essential Functions Performs assigned duties associated with the preparation of meals, such as cooking and baking, preparing individual portions, and other food preparation duties as assigned (45%). Cleans kitchen equipment and utensils, dishes, mixers, and machines; performs general cleaning duties in the kitchen (25%). Performs miscellaneous food service duties including acting as a cashier for lunch (secondary only), assembling machines, counting money, ordering and storing supplies, and securing food for shipment to other school kitchens (20%). Serves prepared food to students (10%). Reactively responds to change and handles other essential tasks as assigned. Interacts positively with students, building staff, kitchen staff, and supervisors. Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired; school kitchen experience is preferred. Required upon hire to complete Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and others. Ability and willingness to follow work instructions in all foodservice areas and maintain a positive attitude toward the program. Ability to report to work on time and notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work. Job Requirements Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
