Radius Aerospace– Shelbyville is a leading manufacturer of sheet metal parts and assemblies used in the aviation industry. We utilize a wide range of metal forming techniques and special manufacturing processes, servicing the commercial, military, regional jet, helicopter, and general aviation markets. 

Position Summary

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our aerospace manufacturing operations, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency, while ensuring safety. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance of specialized stretch forming machines and related aerospace manufacturing equipment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Equipment Maintenance:  Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility and manufacturing equipment such as Cyril Bath stretch forming machines, hydraulic power units, and sheet forming equipment.
• Troubleshooting & Repair:  Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical malfunctions. Troubleshoot PLC control systems and CNC interface integrations. 
• Hydraulic Systems Expertise:  Service high-pressure hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, proportional valves, and servo valves unique to stretch forming applications.
• Component Replacement:  Repair or replace defective parts, rebuild hydraulic cylinders, align mechanical structures, an update electrical wiring as needed.
• Calibration & Testing:  Calibrate machines axes, tension controls and gripping systems to ensure precise tolerance levels required for aerospace manufacturing. 
• Documentation:  Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment downtime within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Safety & Compliance:  Adhere to all OSHA, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and company safety protocols. Ensure equipment operates in compliance with aviation quality standards (e.g. AS9100).
• Prepares work to be accomplished by understanding assembly instructions, blueprints, specifications, and parts lists
• Read and Interpret drawings, illustrations, specifications and identifies their relevance to the manufacturing of parts
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Excellent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Position Qualifications & Skills

A valid driver’s license is required

• Experience:  Minimum of 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with a strong emphasis on heavy machinery or specific experience operating/maintaining Cyril Bath stretch forming presses. CNC experience, a plus. Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree, apprenticeship or certifications in industrial maintenance, mechatronics or fluid power preferred. Electrical training and/or license preferred. 
• Technical Knowledge:  Proficiency in industrial hydraulics and pneumatics. Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and electrical blueprints.
• Automation Skills: Experience with PLC troubleshooting and servo-controlled systems.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong skills in mechanical fabrication, welding, precision alignment and rigging of heavy industrial components.
• Problem Solving: Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills to resolve complex equipment issues under minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements and Working Demands

• Manufacturing environment may be exposed to noise levels, dust, grime, oils, hydraulic fluids and heat. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Must be able to carry/lift to 50lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl and climb ladders for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, or remain on call as production demands require.
