Lead Software Engineer, Financial Markets (Global Tech)

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus at least five years of applied coding experience in Java or Python, including production services and performance-sensitive applications
• Financial markets experience, ideally involving Rates products, risk, PnL, market data, or the trade lifecycle
• Hands-on expertise in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability, with a record of leading complex technical initiatives
• Strong understanding of real-time and distributed systems, including concurrency, messaging or streaming patterns, caching, and failure modes
• Experience delivering software in a large corporate environment with established engineering standards for testing, code quality, security, and SDLC
• Practical experience with CI/CD, application resilience, secure engineering, production monitoring, and incident response
• Ability to lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, and work effectively with business stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly and deliver quality outcomes under time pressure
• Preferred: Exposure to Deephaven or similar real-time analytics and UI platforms, including installation, runtime dependencies such as Java, and operational considerations
• Preferred: Experience with DevOps practices for low-latency services, including deployments, observability, capacity and performance testing, and environment management
• Preferred: Understanding of web or desktop UI programming and collaboration across UI and backend systems to deliver trader-facing workflows
• Preferred: Familiarity with Java or mixed-language environments where Python services interact with JVM-based components
• Preferred: Experience with event-driven architectures and high-performance data pipelines in front-office systems

• Lead the design and development of Python-based live risk and PnL applications, driving ongoing improvements across product teams
• Work directly with Rates traders and stakeholders to turn business needs into reliable, low-latency technical solutions
• Guide decisions on software solutions, architecture, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, supporting strategic direction and production excellence
• Develop secure, high-quality production code with emphasis on correctness, performance, and operational stability
• Own architecture and design artifacts for complex real-time systems, ensuring latency, throughput, and availability requirements are met
• Develop and enhance monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks, and contribute to production support and incident management when needed
• Partner with DevOps and platform teams to improve CI/CD, deployment automation, and environment reliability
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and engineering standards
• Identify systemic concerns such as technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and data quality gaps, and lead remediation aligned with long-term platform goals
