Position Details Custodian (Job ID 329) – 52 weeks, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Work times: 2:45 p.m. – 11:15 p.m. during the school year; 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. during summer months. Summary Create and maintain a clean, sanitary environment and perform preventive maintenance on all areas of the school campus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment, and school grounds. Assist with seasonal grounds work and weather‑related tasks. Restock disposable items and provide inventory data to the head custodian. Assist community partners with event setup on campus. Communicate maintenance issues to the head custodian. Maintain exterior door security on campus. Use aerial lifts and scaffolds for projects as needed. Perform head custodian duties in their absence. Monitor email communication promptly. Complete monthly safety training program. Job Specific Skills and Abilities Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, students, staff, and the community. Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and School Board policies. Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office and Google systems. Valid driver’s license with good driving record. Language Skills Read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups. Mathematical Skills Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Work with units of American money, weight, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability Solve practical problems with limited standardization. Interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions. Physical Demands Stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle objects, tool use, talking, hearing. Reach with hands and arms frequently. Occasionally sit. Squat, stoop, kneel, reach above head, reach forward frequently. Climb ladders and use hand strength to grasp tools. Operate vacuum cleaner, mop floors; bend or twist neck/trunk more than average. Lift or move up to 50 lbs regularly; occasionally up to 90 lbs. Push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines, lawn mowers. Maintain close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception; adjust focus. Good body balance on slippery surfaces. Work Environment Work indoors; occasionally outdoors. Near moving mechanical equipment. Occasionally with toxic or caustic chemicals, e.g., petroleum products, de‑greasers, sprays. Meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Moderate noise level.
