Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct segments of occupational therapy treatment programs aimed at restoring and improving physical, social, and cognitive function; tailor plans to meet patient-specific goals.
- Serve as a co-leader in an interdisciplinary care team, collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to optimize patient outcomes.
- Perform comprehensive evaluations, establish individualized treatment plans, and apply evidence-based techniques and protocols for therapy interventions.
- Implement and adjust treatment interventions, document progress, and communicate plans and progress to patients, families, and the care team.
- Develop individualized discharge and follow-up plans; ensure that plans are clearly conveyed to downstream providers and care staff.
- Maintain thorough, accurate clinical documentation within established deadlines; supervise assigned OT assistants as appropriate.
- In inpatient and acute care settings, participate in rounds, contribute to care conferences, and advocate for patient needs within the care continuum.

Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) – required; only if obtained license on or after January 2007; or foreign equivalent.
- Licensure: Occupational Therapy licensure in the state of practice is required.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor; CPR/BLS as applicable per policy.
- Experience: At least 1 year of acute care OT experience; 2 years of OT experience preferred. ICU experience and EPIC electronic health record experience are required or strongly preferred, depending on unit needs.
- Additional: Current nursing license per the state of assignment; ability to work in an inpatient acute care setting; weekend rotation may be required.
- Other: Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive evaluations, establish and communicate treatment and discharge plans, and complete timely documentation.
