Job Description:

Lab generalist with phlebotomy included. No weekend requirements. Possible call if needed and they are willing. Must be strong in Epic.

Responsibilities:

• Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophies.
• Collects, processes and receives specimens (including blood, urine, fecal, body fluid) to be analyzed in all departments of the clinical laboratory.
• Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens of analysis of all age ranges.
• Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of personnel, equipment, cost and establishment of reference intervals; writes and revises technical procedures.
• Performs complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles.
• Analyzes quality control data, makes judgments concerning results and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
• Answers inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results.
• Reviews all instrument indicators and temperature monitors for laboratory departments.
• Responsible for maintaining self-competency in laboratory skills.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree (or Associates Degree for grandfathered personnel).
• CLS or MT (ASCP) or equivalent.
• New MT Graduate must pass certification exam within 6 months of employment start date.
