We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Area Manager – Multifamily Operations to oversee one of our flagship residential communities in Jersey City. This role will lead operations for a large-scale, 1,100 unit property and is ideal for a strong operator who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Position Overview The Area Manager is responsible for the overall operational, financial, and team performance of a large multifamily community. This individual will ensure the property operates efficiently, meets financial goals, and delivers an exceptional resident experience aligned with BLT’s brand standards. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing property management and maintenance teams. Provide coaching, feedback, and conduct performance evaluations for direct reports. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence. Partner closely with on-site leaders to build an engaged, service-driven team environment. Operational Management Oversee daily operations of a 1,100 unit multifamily community. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, fair housing regulations, and local laws. Conduct routine inspections to maintain property standards, curb appeal, and asset quality. Manage vendor relationships and ensure high-quality service delivery. Financial Performance Drive achievement of NOI and P&L goals for the property. Monitor occupancy, leasing trends, rent collections, and expenses. Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to improve results and control costs. Leasing & Marketing Partner with marketing to execute property-level marketing plans and initiatives. Support leasing strategies to optimize traffic, conversion, and retention. Monitor market conditions and competitive positioning to ensure strong performance. Oversee resident events and promotional initiatives to enhance community engagement. Resident Experience Ensure delivery of exceptional customer service and high resident satisfaction. Address escalated resident concerns with professionalism and urgency. Maintain a visible and active presence within the community. Technology & Reporting Utilize AppFolio and other systems to manage operations, financials, and reporting. Track key performance indicators and provide insights to leadership. Support reporting and data analysis to drive continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Hospitality, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5 years of experience in multifamily or hospitality property management. 3 years of experience managing large communities or leading property teams. Experience overseeing high-unit-count properties (500 units preferred). Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management systems; AppFolio preferred.
