Instawork is hiring a Senior Accountant, reporting into the Accounting Manager, to contribute to the company's accounting function. This role is a mix of hands‑on traditional accounting tasks and forward‑looking projects to improve our systems and processes. Based in our San Francisco office, it is ideal for a highly motivated accounting professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑growth technology environment and brings a combination of technical accounting expertise, operational excellence, and a passion for process transformation and innovation. Responsibilities Assist with month‑end close procedures, including preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies while maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness Assist with the annual audit process; readiness and execution, including preparation of supporting audit schedules and account reconciliations Review and research technical accounting issues and drive to resolution Partner cross‑functionally with FP&A, Biz Ops (Analytics), Product, IT and Legal teams Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve scalability Leverage technology, data analytics, and AI‑enabled solutions to enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial insights Assist with implementation and optimization of financial systems, accounting tools, and reporting processes Support special projects and ad‑hoc accounting work as needed Required Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent; CPA strongly preferred 5+ years of accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting or public company and industry experience highly preferred Experience with NetSuite is desired Proactive, detail‑oriented go‑getter with strong critical thinking and organization skills Excellent understanding of GAAP‑compliant accounting policies, procedures and financial statements Comfortable with ambiguity and dynamic workload, with a "roll‑up‑your‑sleeves and get going" attitude Strong communication skills and ability to work well across teams Advanced Excel and Google Suite skills Proficiency in using AI and the mindset to use AI to improve processes Compensation and Benefits Base salary for this position is $100,000 – $125,000 (final offer may vary) Benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision plans with coverage beginning on the date of hire Flexible paid time off At least 8 paid company holidays annually Phone stipend Commuter stipend Supplemental pay on qualified leaves Employee health savings accounts (HSA) contribution Flexible spending plans 401K plan Perkspot – discount program through Lumity Equal Employment Opportunity As set forth in Instawork’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected group status under any applicable law. #J-18808-Ljbffr Instawork-Internal
