A well-established educational program in the Elmira, NY area is seeking dedicated 1:1 Teacher Aides and Teacher Assistants for its summer school program. This contract position runs from July 6 to August 14, 2026, with weekday shifts from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, averaging approximately 27.5 hours per week.
Key Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional, teacher aide, or teacher assistant in a school setting
- Strong preference for candidates with prior 1:1 work supporting students with various learning needs
- Active NY State License/Certificate required for Teacher Assistants; Aides may also need certification
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, students, and other staff
- Ability to commit to the full contract period and scheduled hours
What You’ll Do:
- Provide individualized instructional and behavioral support to assigned students throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to implement lesson plans and strategies
- Assist students with classroom routines, transitions, and activities
- Support the inclusion of students in classroom and school-wide activities
- Maintain confidentiality and promote a positive, respectful school environment
