Steward - The Little Nell - Winter

The Steward is responsible for cleaning and storing all flatware, silver, glass, kitchen trays, pots, pans according to the direction of the restaurant management team. The Steward also assists in food preparation as requested. This position reports to the Executive Steward.

The Steward is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment, participating in pre and post shift cleaning and organization to include but not limited to: kitchen equipment, walk in fridge/freezer storage, dry storage, trash, recycle, mopping, sweeping. Assist with storage of food deliveries, clean kitchen walls, floors, loading docks, and other associated areas at the proper time. Disassemble, clean and re-assemble dishwasher prior to end of shift. Post appropriate caution signs when the floor is wet or being mopped to ensure highest level of safety. Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean orderly condition. Assist with preparing food items according to chef specifications. Follow daily preparation list to ensure items are ready for service. Report any problems with food product, kitchen equipment or work area to Executive Steward. Other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior work experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred. ServSafe or similar food safety course certification is preferred.

Great knowledge of company policies and procedures. Familiarity with company rules, regulations, and operational standards. Basic industry terminology. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Ability to do basic problem-solving. Ability to identify straightforward issues and propose simple solutions. Ability to follow oral or written directions in basic English. Ability to work in collaboration with others to achieve team goals. Ability to quickly adapt to changes in processes, customer flow, environments, and tasks with great attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time, kneeling and bending may be required. Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
