Area Health Information Specialist I Location: 7207 Lutz, FL 33558. Full‑time regular. Datavant is a data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. This position is responsible for processing all release of information (ROI) – specifically medical record requests – in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. The associate must safeguard patient privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient’s medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. This role requires traveling 75 % or more of the time and is an intermediate level position with at least one year of related HIM experience. Position Highlights Full‑Time: Monday‑Friday 8:00-4:30 pm EST Location: Supports multiple locations in Florida – Lutz, Carrollwood, Northdale, Odessa, New Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Brandon Processing medical records and taking calls from patients, insurance companies and attorneys to provide status updates Documenting information on multiple platforms using two computer monitors Preferred customer service, data entry and release of information experience Full benefits: PTO, health, vision, dental insurance, 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions, and tuition reimbursement Responsibilities Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information. Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software. Adhere to the company’s and customer facilities’ code of conduct and policies. Inform manager of work site difficulties and/or fluctuating volumes. Assist with additional duties or responsibilities as required. Consistently apply medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure. Manage patient health records, safeguarding them and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Prepare new patient charts, gathering documents and information from paper sources and/or electronic health records. Assemble medical records in standard order, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record. Respond to requests for patient records, both within the facility and from external sources, retrieving and transmitting them appropriately. Answer inbound and outbound calls. Assist with patient walk‑ins. Assist with administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry. Schedule pick‑ups. Assist with training associates in the HIS I position. Generate reports for manager or facility as directed. Meet or exceed level 1 productivity expectations as outlined at specific sites. Participate in project teams and committees to advance operational strategies and initiatives as needed. Act in a lead role with staff regarding general questions and assist with new hire training and developmental training. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to travel locally/regionally 75 % or more of the time. Ability to commute between multiple locations as needed. Ability to work overtime during peak seasons when required. One year of health information related experience. Meets and/or exceeds company’s productivity standards. Basic computer proficiency. Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis. Professional verbal and written communication skills in English. Detail‑ and quality‑oriented with regard to accurate and compliant information for medical records. Strong data entry skills. Ability to work with minimum supervision, responding to changing priorities and role needs. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks. Ability to respond to requests in a fast‑paced environment. Bonus Points If Previous production/metric‑based work experience. In‑person customer service experience. Ability to build relationships with on‑site clients and customers. Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions and feedback to internal stakeholders.
