CNC Machinist (Lathe Operator)

We're looking for an experienced CNC Machinist who enjoys taking ownership of the entire machining process—from setup and programming to production and quality inspection. If you're skilled with CNC lathes, G-Code programming, and precision measurement tools, this is a great opportunity to join a fast-paced manufacturing team where your expertise is valued.

What You'll Do

• Set up, program, and operate CNC Mazak lathes and mills

• Read blueprints, process sheets, and technical drawings

• Edit and optimize G-Code and/or Mazatrol programs

• Select tooling, adjust offsets, and troubleshoot machining issues

• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges

• Perform machine maintenance and ensure quality standards are met

• Collaborate with team members to improve production efficiency

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of CNC lathe setup and operation experience

• Strong G-Code programming skills (Mazatrol experience preferred)

• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T

• Experience with precision measuring tools and tight-tolerance machining

• Strong troubleshooting, mathematical, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical training in machining or manufacturing

• CAD/CAM programming experience

• Familiarity with Fanuc controls and conversational programming

• Experience mentoring or training other machinists

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Schaumburg, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
