Journeyman Electrician

Pay: Starting at $35.00 per Hour (Based on Experience) Job Description Job Title: Journeyman Electrician – Oil & Gas Location: Kenedy, TX | Eagle Ford Shale Schedule: 5/2 (Monday-Friday, weekends and holidays as needed) Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary MRI Automation is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems supporting oil and gas production facilities throughout South Texas. This position requires a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, oilfield operations, safety compliance, and troubleshooting techniques in demanding field environments. The ideal candidate will have experience working with AC and DC power systems, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, RTUs, and production facility electrical infrastructure. Candidates should be self-motivated, safety-focused, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in oil and gas production facilities Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving motors, control panels, power distribution systems, and field equipment Install and maintain: 12VDC, 24VDC, and 48VDC systems 120VAC, 240VAC, and 480VAC systems Motor control centers (MCCs) Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) PLCs and RTUs Production automation equipment Perform conduit installation, wire pulls, terminations, and electrical equipment installations Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs Support startup, commissioning, and facility expansion projects Coordinate with operations personnel, customers, and other field technicians Maintain accurate service reports and project documentation Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, company standards, and customer safety requirements Participate in emergency callouts and after-hours support when required Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong attendance Qualifications Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License required Minimum 3 years of industrial or oilfield electrical experience preferred Strong troubleshooting skills in industrial electrical environments Experience reading electrical drawings and control schematics Ability to work independently and make sound troubleshooting decisions Strong communication and customer service skills Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Preferred Experience Oil & gas production facilities Tank batteries Compressor stations Saltwater disposal facilities (SWDs) Production equipment and automation systems Motor controls and VFDs PLC and RTU systems Instrumentation and process control equipment Generator systems Hazardous locations (Class I Division 1 & Division 2) Basic SCADA, automation, or controls experience Technical Skills Experience with one or more of the following is preferred: Industrial electrical troubleshooting PLCs and RTUs Motor controls Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) ABB equipment ROC systems Instrumentation devices Communication systems Modbus communications Industrial networking Electrical testing equipment Power distribution systems Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to climb ladders and work at heights Ability to work in confined spaces when required Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to stand, walk, and work extended hours in field environments Ability to travel to customer locations throughout South Texas Ability to participate in an on-call rotation Live within 45 minutes of Kenedy, TX (Preferred) Wear required PPE, including FR clothing and safety equipment Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience Overtime opportunities Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401(k) with Company Match Paid Time Off Company-Provided Safety Equipment Training and Career Development Opportunities Performance-Based Bonus Program Why Join MRI Automation?
