About the Company

Our client is a stablecoin-based payments company for global trade businesses, importers, exporters, and wholesalers trading between the U.S. and Latin America. Clients accept digital payments (USDT, USDC, USD) from international buyers and receive fast USD settlement, with charge card infrastructure on top. Headquartered in Miami, FL, they have processed $500M+ in volume over the past two years and raised $7M from investors including Giant Ventures and a16z Crypto, with angels from Coinbase, Bank of America, and American Express. The founding team comes from MIT and Princeton, with backgrounds at Facebook and McKinsey.

About the Role

The client is a registered MSB operating with licensed money-transmitter partners such as Bridge. Their clients are mainly U.S. trade businesses, with international onboarding growing quickly. The compliance program is built and running written BSA/AML policies, KYB/KYC onboarding, wallet screening on every transaction, transaction monitoring, and a two-analyst risk operations team. It needs a leader: today the founders carry a large share of compliance decisions. As Head of Compliance, you will take the reins of the department, run it day to day, keep refining it as the company scales, and free the founders to focus on what only they can do: grow the company. This is a full-time, hands-on operator seat, not a fractional, advisory, or policy-writing engagement. The title grows with the company: this seat becomes Chief Compliance Officer as they scale. Compliance at the client is part of the product: your decisions directly shape what customers can do and how fast.

Responsibilities

• Program: Own BSA/AML policies, procedures, and the risk model; turn recurring edge cases into data-backed thresholds and updated written procedure.

• Decisions: Final call on escalated onboarding reviews, wallet screenings, de-risking vs. rejection, and monitoring alerts documented and defensible.
\n
• Team: Manage the compliance analysts: escalation point, quality control, guardrails, priorities. Their escalations come to you, not the founders.
\n
• Filings: SAR decisioning and filing, sanctions escalations, and recordkeeping, with outside counsel where needed.
\n
• Banks & partners: Represent the client's program to banking and money-transmitter partners: DDQs, RFIs, applications, audits.
\n
• Customer-facing compliance: Every client RFI or KYC request follows a template and process you approved.
\n
• Systems: Build workflows and automation so analysts execute and you approve. The team uses AI tooling aggressively and expects compliance to keep pace.

Qualifications

\n
• 4–5+ years in fintech, payments, or crypto compliance, including time leading a compliance team.
\n
• Crypto experience required; you’ve worked at or with digital-asset businesses and understand stablecoins, wallets, and screening.
\n
• Willing to serve as the client’s designated BSA/AML Compliance Officer under their FinCEN MSB registration.
\n
• International/cross -border exposure; U.S.-domestic-only backgrounds are not a fit.
\n
• Has both written policy and worked real cases; sound judgment on risk vs. commercial reality; able to say yes with controls, not just no.

• Strong plus: blockchain analytics tools (Elliptic, Chainalysis, TRM); Spanish; trade-based money laundering experience; MSB licensing exposure; AI tools in compliance work.

Logistics

Full-time contract role. Remote LATAM; hybrid if in Miami, FL. Compensation: Competitive, plus equity incentive and benefits. Reports to the founders; manages the compliance analyst team.
