Position Overview:

Settlers Bay Community Church (SBCC) is a growing Southern Baptist congregation located in the Settler’s Bay neighborhood of Wasilla, Alaska. The area is family-oriented, with many young families and outdoor-loving residents. The church is committed to helping people trust in Jesus, connect with a church family, grow as disciples, and participate in building God’s kingdom. SBCC offers Sunday worship, children’s ministry, youth ministry, and mid-week Bible studies. Our church is committed to supporting local and global missions.

This position is designed as a bivocational ministry role, recognizing and supporting the candidate’s ability to serve faithfully in ministry while also maintaining outside employment, professional work, or vocational pursuits within the community. SBCC values leaders who can connect with people both inside and outside the church and sees bivocational ministry as an opportunity for broader community engagement, relational outreach, and sustainable long-term ministry. Flexibility in scheduling and ministry expectations will allow the pastor/leader to balance church responsibilities with vocational commitments while effectively shepherding and leading the congregation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preaching and teaching God’s Word
• Providing pastoral counseling and care
• Leading and overseeing church ministries and leaders
• Guiding the church to grow and fulfill its mission
• Planning and administering church programs and operations
• Supporting worship, education, and evangelism efforts

Qualifications: Faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, solid communication skills, and a heart for serving the Settlers Bay/Wasilla community.  We seek a pastor who reflects the biblical character and leadership qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7.
