Title: Lead HR Operations Specialist (Temporary) Location: New York, NY or Boston, MA Hybrid schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday onsite; Monday and Friday remote. Compensation: $45 - $57 per hour Duration: Temporary (Approx. 3 Months) Summary A growing professional services organization is seeking a seasoned HR Operations professional to provide hands‑on support across core HR functions during a critical period of systems transformation and organizational growth. This individual will serve as a key member of the People team, supporting employee lifecycle processes, HR systems administration, reporting, data management, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys balancing day‑to‑day HR operations with systems, reporting, and continuous improvement work. Key Responsibilities HR Operations Manage day-to-day HR operations throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, employee status changes, and terminations. Maintain employee records and ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and data integrity across HR systems. Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and systems. Prepare employment‑related documents, correspondence, and other HR materials as needed. Support annual HR initiatives including compensation planning, performance management, benefits administration, and employee data audits. HRIS & Data Management Administer HR systems and employee data processes, ensuring accurate and timely updates. Support system testing, workflow troubleshooting, reporting, and enhancement initiatives. Partner with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for greater efficiency and automation. Develop and maintain process documentation, system procedures, and standard operating guidelines. Conduct data audits and reconciliations to ensure reporting accuracy and compliance. Reporting & Analytics Generate recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and workforce analytics. Support leadership requests related to workforce planning, budgeting, audits, surveys, and compliance activities. Analyze trends and identify opportunities to improve reporting quality, process efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Ensure the integrity, consistency, and reliability of HR data. Process Improvement Evaluate existing HR processes and recommend improvements. Streamline workflows to improve efficiency and employee experience. Support HR transformation projects involving systems, data management, and operational enhancements. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth execution of HR initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR Operations, HR Generalist, HRIS, or People Operations experience. Experience supporting employee data management and HR systems administration. Prior experience within professional services, financial services, consulting, legal, accounting, or similar corporate environments strongly preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data reconciliation, filtering, and reporting. Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience supporting HRIS implementations, system upgrades, or process improvement initiatives is highly desirable.
