Director of Health Information management

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Health Information Management (HIM) to lead and oversee HIM operations within a well-established healthcare system. This is a high-visibility leadership role responsible for coding compliance, documentation integrity, and overall department performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all HIM operations , including coding, documentation, and records management
- Ensure compliance with ICD-10 coding standards and regulatory guidelines
- Oversee medical records processing, transcription, release of information, and data integrity
- Monitor and improve coding accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Develop and implement HIM policies and process improvements
- Manage and mentor HIM staff, driving team performance
- Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or related field
- 5+ years of HIM leadership/management experience
- 5+ years of medical coding experience
- Strong knowledge of HIM operations, coding, and compliance
Certifications
- RHIT required
- RHIA highly preferred
