Job Summary Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring an Instructional Services Coordinator for the Physical Sciences Department. The role acts as the operational lead for Physical Sciences laboratories, ensuring instructional spaces are organized, compliant, and prepared to support teaching and learning. The position collaborates with faculty and laboratory staff to coordinate projects, maintain continuity of operations, and support high-quality lab experiences across chemistry, physics, geology, and engineering. Independently manages day-to-day activities and provides leadership in the absence of the senior coordinator. This position is fully in-person. Essential Functions Collaborates with faculty and staff to design, implement, and continuously improve instructional laboratories. Evaluates laboratory effectiveness, quality, and outcomes; recommends modifications or enhancements. Provides technical and operational support to ensure programs are resourced and executed. Assists in administration of laboratory budgets, purchasing, and procurement. Coordinates inventory control for equipment, chemicals, and supplies. Supports vendor communication and purchasing decisions aligned with program needs. Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of laboratory safety programs, policies, and SOPs. Supports regulatory compliance for laboratory operations and hazardous materials management. Oversees handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous materials. Serves as lead worker for daily laboratory operations. Assists in planning, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing staff work. Provides training, guidance, and performance feedback. Participates in recruitment, evaluation, disciplinary, and termination processes as assigned. Performs project management for laboratory and instructional program initiatives, including planning, logistics, timelines, and implementation oversight. Ensures projects are completed efficiently and aligned with departmental objectives. Collects, monitors, and evaluates operational and instructional data. Prepares reports and program materials. Maintains laboratory files and records. Assists in the preparation and collection of assessment materials to support continuous improvement. Other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related program area and one (1) year of full-time-equivalent program coordination experience. OR Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related program area and three (3) years of full-time-equivalent program coordination experience. An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience sufficient to perform the essential duties may be considered, unless otherwise subject to legal or regulatory requirements. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field Two (2) years of experience working in a chemistry lab setting Two (2) years of supervisory experience Experience with lab safety protocols and compliance, including hazardous materials handling Experience coordinating with staff and faculty on technical/operational aspects of science labs Experience with ordering and purchasing for a lab setting One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years (as a desired qualification) Special Working Conditions May require viewing a computer monitor for prolonged periods Exposure to chemicals, fumes, particulates, and organisms that may present health hazards if not handled safely May require lifting objects up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation Evening hours may be required How to Apply Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and resume showing how the applicant meets the minimum and desired qualifications.
