Day Shift CustodianThe East Rochester School District is recruiting a Day Shift Custodian. This position is responsible for the cleanliness of our school building, supervising cleaning staff, and performing routine and semi-skilled repair and maintenance tasks. Does related work as required, including but not limited to:Supervision of cleaners, including routine workload management, general and specific cleaning dutiesSweeps, mops, washes, dusts, and performs other cleaning dutiesVacuums and shampoos carpets and stuffed furnitureEmpties waste containers and disposes of rubbishReplaces light bulbs, towels, soap, and other suppliesOperates floor and carpet cleaning/scrubbing equipmentRepairs furniture; performs minor carpentry, mechanical, and related tasks; makes minor repairs to plumbing and electrical fixtures and related equipmentChecks to ensure that buildings are heated, cleaned, locked, and unlocked in readiness for all activitiesChecks operation of heating systemsSupports grounds operations as neededEnsures buildings are secure and utilize electronic security systemsAssists in unloading, moving, handling, and delivery of equipment, furniture, and suppliesMaintains building recycling programPaints rooms and equipmentMaintains swimming poolsAssists with setting up and tearing down athletic contests and special events, as well as general policing of facilities during such eventsInspects and monitors facility cleanliness and level of presentationExercises sound judgment in taking corrective action as necessaryReports facility repair and emergency issues to supervisorEffectively utilizes communication tools, including but not limited to email and computerized maintenance management softwareThis position includes a complete medical and dental package, paid leave time, and membership in the NYS retirement system. The employee reports directly to the Director of Facilities.
