Technology Consultant (Commvault Experience Needed)

As a member of our Canadian National Storage and Backup Team, the Technology Consultant plays a critical and important role in the day to day operational support of TELUS existing Storage infrastructure supporting a vast customer base across the country. This individual in this position is responsible for the implementation of new storage infrastructure and maintaining the existing footprint. Industry best practice plays an important role in driving the direction of new storage and data management technologies. Individual must be able to articulate and recommend the best storage solutions for customer need in this multi-protocol, multi-site national landscape.

Responsibilities:

• Perform 24 x 7 key remote support on a rotational basis
• Manage the Problem Management Queue to closure
• Plan and Implement Changes as required under the ITIL framework
• Recommend Storage and Data Protection Architecture for new and existing customers
• Implement Storage and Backup Monitoring best practices
• Implement and Maintain Capacity Management methodologies
• Recommend, implement and maintain storage solutions to address customer RPO & RTO
• Assist with Storage BUGS fixes in co-ordination with Vendors
• Develop and KPI reports for internal and external customer consumption
• Perform mentoring to Onshore and Offshore Staff

Required Knowledge:

• Sound experience in developing and documenting technology orientations and solutions
• Experience with the deployment of enterprise solutions in a global enterprise
• Strong understanding of technologies and marketplace in storage systems and their management, and service level measurement
• Strong knowledge of Commvault, Veritas Netbackup and NetApp as primary storage are key
• Strong knowledge of Data Protection Methodologies is required
• Must have intermediate to advanced level experience working with various operating systems in physical and virtualized environments such as VMWare and Hyperscalers
• Must have working knowledge of AIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows operating environment, at least at the Intermediate System Administrator level.
• Knowledge in operating large backup infrastructures is required
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Experience with Storage Array configuration

• Implement and Troubleshooting OS, hardware, network, storage, SAN, and Backup application problems
• Troubleshooting large, complex multi-vendor environments
• Handling multiple tasks efficiently and work on a wide range of systems
• Ability to go on call
• Ability to take Time off in Lieu
• Must Customer driven
• Must understand the TELUS Culture

Required Professional Designation/Certification: University degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience will be an asset.
