Job Title: Hardware Test Engineer (PMIC/ASIC Characterization)

Location: San Diego, CA 100% onsite, day shift, 5 days/week

Positions Available: 1

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Pay Rate: $455–$500/day (approx. $118,300–$130,000/year, based on full-time coverage)

About the Team:
The Product Development and Test Engineering group develops test solutions for design verification of leading-edge technologies and highly integrated power management and analog ASICs. This group collaborates cross-functionally with Design, System, Foundry, Program Management, Yield, Reliability, Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing teams to bring products to commercialization.

Job Summary:
This role applies hardware engineering knowledge to support the planning, optimization, verification, and testing of electronic systems — including digital/analog/RF/optical circuits, mechanical systems, FPGA/DSP systems, and test equipment. The engineer will support first silicon debug, PMIC IC device-level characterization, PMIC module verification with 3rd-party ICs, load board design/debug, test program development, and data analysis, while working under supervision on tasks that require multi-step planning and prioritization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support planning, optimization, verification, and testing of electronic systems, bring-up yield, circuits, and test systems (Digital/Analog/RF/optical, FPGA/DSP)
• Support integration of new features/functionality into hardware designs per roadmap
• Conduct simulations and analyses to support best power/performance/area design outcomes
• Design and debug test interface hardware (load boards) and test software/programs; drive HW/SW integration
• Develop characterization plans; support first silicon debug and PMIC device-level characterization
• Perform PMIC module verification and characterization with third-party ICs
• Conduct data analysis, generate test limits/guard bands, and drive failure analysis to completion
• Drive short- and long-term test time reduction and yield improvement across multiple parallel projects without compromising quality
• Assess designs for potential flaws, compatibility, and compliance issues
• Write technical documentation for hardware projects

Must-Have Technical Skills:

• Solid understanding of EE fundamentals — digital, analog, mixed-signal, power management, and RF circuit analysis
• Working knowledge of power management measurements (line/load regulation, PSRR, transition time, regulator efficiency, jitter, gain, SNDR, etc.)
• Strong ASIC characterization skills and system-level knowledge
• Hands-on experience with bench test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supply meters, battery emulators, spectrum/logic analyzers, etc.)
• Test board design, debug, and development experience
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and statistical data analysis tools
• Strong programming skills (Python, VB, Perl, etc.) for test code generation and debug
• Ability to work independently with strong initiative
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills; able to document thoroughly across local and remote teams

Nice-to-Have:

• Bench test SW automation expertise, or hands-on experience with Teradyne IFlex/UFlex and/or Advantest 93K ATE
• Experience with Six Sigma Statistical Process Control
• Strong cross-functional team collaboration experience
• Wafer fabrication fundamentals

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering required (Computer Science or related field also considered)
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred

Additional Details:

• No specific physical weight requirements; no driving required
• Role is primarily bench test lab-based, handling minimal equipment (bench boards, small bench instrumentation)
• Interview process: 3 rounds
