Quality Inspector - Aerospace ManufacturingLocation: Kent, WA Workplace Type: On-Site Department: Quality / Inspection Position Type: Full-Time Pay Range: $30.00-$34.00/hour, depending on experience Experience Required: 3-6 years of aerospace quality inspection experience preferredPosition SummaryA confidential aerospace / precision manufacturing client in Kent, WA is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to support quality inspection and product verification activities. This role is responsible for inspecting parts and finished products according to shop travelers, drawings, visual product specifications, and quality procedures. The Quality Inspector will use calibrated measuring equipment to verify dimensions, materials, surface finishes, and other product requirements while documenting findings and identifying nonconforming product. The ideal candidate will have aerospace inspection experience, strong measuring tool knowledge, familiarity with ISO / AS9100 quality standards, and the ability to inspect first-piece, finished parts, and First Article parts to print specifications.Key ResponsibilitiesInspect parts, finished products, and components according to shop travelers, drawings, and visual product specifications.Use calibrated measuring equipment and inspection processes to verify product conformance.Inspect dimensions, materials, surface finishes, and other drawing or specification requirements.Perform first-piece inspection, final inspection, and First Article inspection as required.Measure, validate, and document inspection findings according to drawings and procedures.Operate and maintain measuring equipment properly to prevent damage.Use inspection tools such as height gauges, comparators, micrometers, and related measuring equipment.Perform acceptance testing as required.Verify that parts and finished products meet drawing and quality requirements.Maintain accurate inspection records, documentation, and quality reports.Identify and report nonconformances to the manager and appropriate personnel.Generate NCRs for nonconforming product and support proper distribution.Use computer systems and ERP systems to support inspection documentation and product tracking.Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and organized condition.Follow ISO / AS9100 quality standards, safety procedures, and company requirements.Perform other quality and inspection duties as assigned.Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED preferred; may be waived with relevant experience.3-6 years of aerospace quality inspection experience preferred.Minimum 2-4 years of machine shop or inspection experience required.Experience inspecting machined parts, finished products, and aerospace components.Ability to inspect first-piece, finished parts, and First Article parts to print specifications.Working knowledge of ISO / AS9100 quality standards.Ability to use calibrated measuring equipment accurately.Experience with height gauges, comparators, micrometers, and related inspection tools.Ability to read and interpret drawings, shop travelers, and visual product specifications.Ability to measure, validate, and document findings according to procedures.Ability to identify nonconforming product and generate NCR documentation.Ability to use a computer and ERP system.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to maintain measuring equipment properly.Ability to maintain a clean and safe work area.Reliable attendance and professional communication skills.Preferred QualificationsAerospace manufacturing inspection experience.Precision machined parts inspection experience.First Article Inspection experience.Experience with acceptance testing.Experience generating NCRs.Experience using ERP systems for inspection, documentation, or product tracking.Experience working in an ISO / AS9100 quality environment.Experience inspecting dimensions, materials, surface finishes, and drawing requirements.Inspection Tools & Equipment ExperienceHeight gauges.Optical comparators.Micrometers.Calipers.Other calibrated measuring equipment.Computer and ERP systems.Shop travelers.Drawings and visual product specifications.NCR documentation systems.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and perform inspection tasks throughout the shift.Ability to use hands and fingers to handle parts, inspection tools, measuring equipment, and documentation.Ability to visually inspect parts and compare product to drawings and visual specifications.Ability to work around machined parts, aerospace components, inspection equipment, and manufacturing activity.Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.Additional physical requirements may apply based on department needs.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is a detail-oriented aerospace quality inspector with strong experience inspecting machined parts and finished products. This person should be comfortable working from drawings, shop travelers, and visual product specifications while using calibrated measuring equipment to verify product conformance. The strongest candidates will have aerospace inspection experience, First Article Inspection experience, ISO / AS9100 knowledge, ERP system experience, and the ability to identify and document nonconforming product through NCR processes.
