Seasonal Wetland Restoration Field Tech

Environmental Restoration Field Technician Riparia Environmental, a subsidiary of MacKay, seeks a seasonal Environmental Restoration Field Technician. This labor‑intensive role involves working outdoors, performing full‑day field tasks, and supporting environmental restoration projects. Shift and Schedule: This position’s schedule varies by project and season. Work shifts are between 6:00 am and 5:30 pm. Overtime and local/overnight travel may be required. Key Responsibilities Maintain wetland and habitat restoration sites, cleaning and clearing debris. Understand ecological succession within Southwestern Washington. Conduct invasive and noxious weed management projects with herbicide application. Assist with planting native wetland and upland vegetation to restore ecosystems. Install and maintain irrigation systems. Restore natural flow patterns to rivers and streams to enhance habitats. Operate work trucks and maintain equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Conditions Obtain confined‑space training and work in confined spaces using safety equipment. Wear appropriate PPE for the entire shift (hard hats, goggles, gloves, reflective garments, etc.). Work independently and as part of a team. Work in variable outdoor conditions (heat, rain, rough terrain). Frequently bend and squat throughout shifts. Carry loads of 30 – 40 pounds, up to occasional 90 pounds. Work long hours and overtime. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Obtain DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate before employment. Experience driving and backing full‑size trucks with trailers and equipment. Experience safely operating power tools (lawn mowers, brush cutters, vortex equipment, etc.). Preferred Qualifications Natural resources education or background. Demonstrated leadership experience in natural resources teams. Ability to identify invasive plant species and noxious weeds. Active DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate. Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) certification.
