Our firm is partnering with a well-established organization in the transportation, logistics, and relocation services industry to identify a Cash Applications Accountant. This position offers an opportunity to join a growing accounting team focused on enhancing processes and driving operational excellence following a recent ERP system conversion. The ideal candidate will bring strong cash application and accounts receivable experience, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to supporting financial operations. Job Description
The Cash Applications Accountant will be responsible for processing customer payments, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and resolving payment discrepancies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of cash postings and contributing to ongoing accounting process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:

• Apply customer payments accurately and timely within the company's ERP system.
• Research and resolve unapplied cash, payment discrepancies, and account variances.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Assist with account reconciliations and month-end close activities.
• Review customer remittance information and ensure proper allocation of payments.
• Partner with internal departments to resolve billing and payment issues.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Support accounts receivable functions as needed.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives related to accounting workflows and system optimization.
• Perform additional accounting duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Required

• 2+ years of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, staff accounting, or a related accounting function.
• Experience processing high volumes of customer payments in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, including debits, credits, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve payment discrepancies independently.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Experience as a Staff Accountant with significant cash application responsibilities.
• Extensive accounts receivable and cash posting experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar ERP platforms.
• Experience supporting ERP implementations, system conversions, or accounting process improvement initiatives.
• Previous experience within transportation, logistics, moving, storage, relocation, or service-based industries.
