FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Kurt R. Schmeller Library at Queensborough Community College invites applications for the position of Information Literacy Coordinator at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. The candidate will provide information literacy instruction and serve as liaison to one or more academic departments and share responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS

There are two tracks: The requirement for the rank of instructor (non-tenure track) is a Master of Library Science (MLS) or a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or an equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program at the time of application . Candidates appointed to the Instructor–Librarian title must demonstrate active and satisfactory progress toward a second Master's degree within five years of initial appointment. The requirement for the rank of assistant professor (tenure-track) is an MLS or an MLIS or an equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program and a second master’s degree at the time of application Preferred : Excellent interpersonal and leadership qualities, a commitment to collaboration and mutual respect, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively on shared projects and committees in our multicultural library and college/university community. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence with engaged learning instruction tailored to the needs of student populations in a community college. Experience with reference in an academic library Experience teaching information literacy in an academic library, with preference given to candidates with experience in implementing the ACRL Framework in information literacy instruction Demonstrated leadership in an academic library, preferably in an information literacy instructional program Demonstrated proficiencies in library assessment, preferably with information literacy instruction Demonstrated experience in using instructional technologies such as AI tools for information literacy Demonstrated experience of designing instruction and materials using critical pedagogy Experience collaborating with faculty and other librarians to lead the development and maintenance of information literacy at different student levels and needs

COMPENSATION

Salary ranges are in accordance with the applicable PSC-CUNY contractual salary schedule effective September 1, 2026. Instructor: $71,688 - $79,298. Assistant Professor: $82,384 - $98,231 CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
