LPN - Orthopedic (Inpatient)

Role Overview This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) working on a fast-paced orthopedics and urology surgical unit with 41 beds, specializing in acute care for surgical and trauma patients. The unit emphasizes collaboration with physical and occupational therapists, providing comprehensive recovery experiences within a short length of stay. LPNs assist with patient care by administering medications, managing IVs, performing dressings, trach care, NG tube care, ostomy care, and documenting assessments and care plans under RN supervision. They communicate with physicians, reinforce discharge instructions, and support patient education. Qualifications & Skills Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days Experience with wound Vac, JP drains, traction devices, orthotic devices, chest tubes, Foley/IV/Mediport care, and telemetry monitoring Strong communication, assessment, and documentation skills Key Duties Administer medications and IV therapies (excluding push meds) Chart assessments and update care plans after RN initial assessments Coordinate care with physicians and healthcare team Perform dressing, trach, NG tube, ostomy care, and patient education Support discharge processes and reinforce instructions #J-18808-Ljbffr Health Wealth Safe
