This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that's constantly evolving.Position SummaryThe Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing all aspects of meat department operations, including merchandising, production, inventory management, food safety, customer service, and associate development. This position helps ensure the department operates efficiently, maintains high-quality standards, achieves sales and profit goals, and delivers an exceptional shopping experience for customers.Key Responsibilities Department OperationsAssist in managing daily meat department operations.Ensure fresh meat, seafood, and value-added products are properly stocked, displayed, and rotated.Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation throughout the department.Support production planning and execution to meet customer demand.Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked sales cases and preparation areas.Team LeadershipAssist with training, coaching, and developing meat department associates.Provide daily direction and support to team members.Promote a positive and productive work environment focused on teamwork and customer service.Serve as department leader in the Meat Manager's absence.Assist with performance management and accountability initiatives.Customer ServiceDeliver exceptional customer service and build customer loyalty.Assist customers with product selection, cooking recommendations, and special orders.Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.Promote department programs, seasonal offerings, and value-added products.Food Safety and ComplianceEnsure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety regulations.Monitor proper handling, storage, labeling, and rotation of all products.Verify associates follow food safety and sanitation procedures.Maintain department readiness for company audits and regulatory inspections.Inventory and Financial ManagementAssist with ordering, receiving, and inventory control.Monitor shrink, gross profit, labor, and sales performance.Support labor scheduling and workforce planning efforts.Help achieve department sales and profitability goals.Assist in minimizing waste through proper production and inventory practices.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Previous meat department, food service, retail, or supervisory experience preferred.Strong customer service and leadership skills.Knowledge of meat cutting, merchandising, and inventory management preferred.Basic math, communication, and computer skills.Food safety certification may be required based on company policy.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesLeadership and team development skills.Strong organizational and time-management abilities.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and quality control standards.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Ability to analyze sales, inventory, and operational performance.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds.Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive hand movements.Ability to safely operate department equipment, including slicers, saws, grinders, and wrapping equipment.Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Success MeasuresAchievement of department sales and profitability goals.High levels of customer satisfaction and service execution.Effective inventory management and shrink control.Compliance with food safety, sanitation, and safety standards.Development and retention of a productive meat department team.Consistent execution of merchandising, operational, and quality standards.We also provide a variety of benefits including:Competitive wages paid weeklyAccess to up to 50% of your earned wages before payday, via our partnership with StreamAssociate discountsHealth and financial well-being benefits for eligible associates (Medical, Dental, 401k and more!)Time off (vacation, holidays, sick pay).
