Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Embark on a meaningful contract assignment supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic elementary setting. This opportunity begins in early August and extends through late May, providing the chance to make a lasting impact throughout the entire academic year. Working onsite in a supportive, collaborative environment, you’ll help guide a small group of students in a self-contained classroom alongside dedicated classroom aides.

  • Current Alabama Special Education Teacher Certification (or eligibility—reciprocity process for out-of-state licenses takes approximately 6 weeks)
  • Previous experience working in special education, particularly in self-contained or resource settings
  • Strong organizational abilities and commitment to individualized instruction
  • Collaborative mindset and communication skills for partnership with aides and administration
  • Readiness to start in early August and remain through the school year

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver individualized education plans for 5–6 elementary students, possibly increasing to 8 with referrals
  • Manage classroom routines and modification for diverse learning needs
  • Coordinate effectively with 1–2 classroom aides to maintain a structured, supportive environment
  • Track, assess, and document student progress
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents and support staff
