Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This contract opportunity is perfect for a Special Education Teacher eager to work collaboratively and support a small, self-contained classroom. The district welcomes travel professionals, and with Alabama’s reciprocity process taking around six weeks, fast action will help get you started for the upcoming school year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification, with eligibility for Alabama SPED Certification
- Experience working in a self-contained classroom setting strongly preferred
- Background supporting students in grades 3-6
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom aides and other education professionals
- Commitment to individualized instruction and inclusive practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging, individualized instruction to a caseload of 5-6 students (potentially up to 8 with referrals throughout the year)
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs, collaborating closely with aides and support staff
- Foster a positive, structured learning environment within the classroom
- Communicate progress and strategies effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and ongoing assessments
