Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This position is full-time and based in a self-contained classroom for grades 3-6, fostering a collaborative environment with support from 1-2 classroom aides. The district is traveler-friendly, and out-of-state certified professionals should be prepared to act quickly to allow ample time for Alabama reciprocity, which takes approximately six weeks.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification (AL SPED Cert required or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience teaching in self-contained classrooms preferred
- Strong commitment to individualized student growth and educational outcomes
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a changing caseload (anticipate 5-8 students)
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and organized learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s learning objectives
- Adapt instructional materials and methods to facilitate student engagement and progress
- Collaborate regularly with aides, related services staff, and administration for comprehensive support
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate updates with parents and guardians
- Support students across academic, behavioral, and social-emotional domains
- Participate in professional development and school/district meetings as needed
