Senior Staff Software Engineer - F22

Description Lockheed Martin Aeronautics seeks a highly motivated, agile, and enthusiastic engineer to join the Airborne Software Department on the F‑22 program as a Sr. Staff Software Engineer. The role focuses on steering the technical development and evolution of mission‑critical aircraft software for the Stores Management System (SMS) team. Core Responsibilities Lead the technical direction for the F‑22 Stores Management System team. Prepare engineering basis of estimate (BOE) bids for new features. Coordinate regularly with the Cost Accounting Manager (CAM) to maintain proper tracking. Coordinate regularly with engineering and program management leadership. Drive product development using an Agile methodology. Design, implement, and integrate C/C++ code for airborne applications. Participate in requirement analysis, verification, and validation activities. Conduct and support hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HWIL) simulations and testing. Partner with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot issues and elevate software quality. Contribute to documentation and configuration management, leveraging tools such as IBM DOORS. Basic Qualifications Expert proficiency in C++ or C. Experience with IBM DOORS or comparable requirements management tools. Knowledge of F‑22 subsystems and software architecture is highly desired. Strong process knowledge for developing mission‑critical embedded software for aircraft applications (e.g., DO‑178B/C). Knowledge of HWIL simulation environments, requirement‑based testing, and unit testing. Strong analytical/problem‑solving abilities and a drive to learn emerging technologies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Desired Skills Working knowledge of MATLAB and Python. Familiarity with 6DoF simulations. Knowledge of fire control systems. Security Clearance Statement This position requires a government security clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Clearance Level: Secret with investigation or CV date within five years.
