Job Description

Requirements:

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS and PALS certification required
• CCRN-Pediatric certification preferred
• 1+ years of PICU/pediatric critical care experience required
• Experience with critical care equipment and pediatric/neonatal advanced life support

Duties:

• Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents requiring intensive monitoring and support
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating care as needed
• Administer medications, including titratable drips, per physician orders, accounting for precise pediatric dosing
• Manage and monitor advanced life support equipment (ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, hemodynamic monitors)
• Support family-centered care, involving parents/caregivers in treatment planning and daily care
• Collaborate with pediatric intensivists, physicians, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
• Perform rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Educate patients (age-appropriate) and families on condition, treatment plan, and care needs
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EMR
• Maintain 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios per acuity and facility staffing guidelines
