Drug Development Materials Science Associate

Eurofins seeks an Associate Scientist to support drug development through solid-state characterization and particle analysis of pharmaceutical candidates. The role involves synthesizing salt forms and polymorphs, conducting laboratory testing, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in Groton, Connecticut.

Responsibilities

• Conduct solid-state characterization studies including X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, and microscopy of drug candidates
• Support crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening activities aligned with project timelines
• Perform particle and surface characterization (size, shape, energy, roughness) of pharmaceutical powders
• Collaborate with Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation, and Biopharmaceutics teams to develop solid form selection strategies
• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous laboratory notebook records in electronic systems

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, or chemical engineering; or Master's degree
• 2+ years of experience with API and small molecule testing for drug production
• Hands-on experience with solid-state characterization techniques (XRPD, DSC, TGA, microscopy, spectroscopy)
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
• Understanding of physical, analytical, and organic chemistry
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively
