POSITION SUMMARY: Assist districts with business operations, payroll, and related issues. Provide business financial, payroll, and business software support services to districts. Provide information and training to districts regarding business operations, payroll, business software applications, and TSDS business data.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: High School Diploma

PREFERRED: Texas school district business office experience

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years experience with business operations.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) certification; knowledge of TEA Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG); knowledge of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations and reporting requirements related to payroll; knowledge of Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) rules and regulations; experience with ASCENDER business software; experience with Texas Student Data Systems (TSDS) and Public Education Information Management Systems (PEIMS) business records; knowledge of Texas Web-Enabled Education Agency's (TEA) Data Standards (TWEDS)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and process financial transactions, payrolls, budgets, grants, audits and related operations and processes for school districts as assigned
• Provide consulting assistance with financial accounting, payroll, and other business operations as assigned
• Provide training and consulting assistance with business data submitted for data collections and other business topics as assigned
• Provide training and consulting assistance with ASCENDER business software applications as assigned
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to sensitive or protected information
• Assist with ESC State Base tasks and activities as directed
• Read, understand, and consistently apply or adhere to ESC policy and administrative procedures
• Promote departmental and interdepartmental teamwork
• Stays current with legislation, research, and best practices relevant to the field to ensure informed and effective support for districts and staff
• Express ideas and information effectively in both oral and written form
• Respond to client service requests in a timely manner
• Demonstrate flexibility in responding to clients' changes in priorities and needs
• Plan for and implement sound procedures to efficiently and effectively complete assignments/projects
• Develop sound action plans for meeting annual goals
• Delegate work appropriately to subordinates
• Organize ideas for logical presentation and acceptance of topics by participants
• Excel in presenting technical, complex, or theoretical information in a way that makes it useful to the audience
• Provide information to relevant audiences in a timely manner
