Seasonal Part-Time Baker

Classic Club in Palm Desert, California, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a seasonal part-time Baker! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

General Purpose: Responsible for preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes. This is a seasonal position with an expected duration of six months or less.

Essential Duties:

• Oversees and manages food preparation for the bakery/pastry department as well as coordinate the production as it relates to banquet and a la carte functions all outlets within the facility, to include all off premise functions.
• Responsible for developing new dessert, pastry and bread products.
• Monitors and checks the maintenance of all bakery related equipment on a daily basis.
• Assists in maintaining a quality sanitation program.
• Assists Executive Chef with the ordering of all bakery related products as directed.
• Follow and comply with all facility policies, procedures and service standards.
• Ensures proper receiving, storage (including temperature setting) and rotations of food products so as to comply with health department regulations.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
• Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work cohesively as part of a team.

Education/Experience:

• Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field; or 2-3 years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to create quality wedding cakes is an asset.
• Working knowledge of sugar work and chocolate skills is an asset.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications is an asset.

Physical Demands:

• Frequently stands and walks; uses hands; talks or hears.
• Regularly reaches with hands and arms, tastes or smells.
• Occasionally sits and stoops, kneels crawls or crouches.
• Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Environment/Noise:

• Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); may come into contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally works in extreme cold or heat (non-weather); may work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses:

• Food Safety and Sanitation Training.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

• Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
• Ability to work long hours, with full availability in conjunction with business levels.
• Knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and applicable health codes.
