Cloud Platform Engineer - Data Platforms

Salary: $145,000 - 156,000 per year Requirements:

• We need at least 5 years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, data platforms, or a similar technical delivery function.
• We require practical experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, data platform enablement, application development, or closely related technical roles.
• We expect hands-on Terraform development, including reusable modules, remote state, version control, automated testing, policy checks, code review, and environment promotion.
• We require experience with AWS infrastructure services for data lake platforms, including IAM, VPC, S3, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config, networking, and guardrails.
• We require experience using GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, GitHub Packages, protected branch workflows, automated validation, and infrastructure-as-code delivery pipelines.
• We require experience with GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted workflows for Terraform development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, review preparation, and responsible AI use.
• We require a strong understanding of DevSecOps practices, including least-privilege IAM, secrets management, policy guardrails, secure pipelines, and operational controls.
• We require experience implementing policy-as-code and infrastructure validation with tools such as OPA, Sentinel, Checkov, or similar frameworks.
• We prefer a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
• We prefer AWS, Terraform, cloud architecture, DevOps, security, data, or generative AI certifications.
• We need strong analytical and systems-thinking skills to translate data lake requirements into secure, reusable AWS infrastructure patterns.
• We need excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across Cloud Platform, Data Engineering, security, architecture, and operations teams.
• We need strong problem-solving ability for troubleshooting Terraform, AWS infrastructure, deployment pipelines, permissions, networking, and operational issues.
• We need collaboration skills to contribute to Data Engineering initiatives while upholding Cloud Platform standards and operating practices.
• We need adaptability to work with evolving AWS services, data lake needs, infrastructure standards, and AI-assisted development practices.
• We expect initiative and ownership to carry infrastructure work from requirements through implementation, review, deployment, and operational handoff.
• We need a continuous-learning mindset for Terraform, AWS data lake services, platform engineering, DevSecOps, GitHub cloud services, and GitHub Copilot-assisted development.
• We value meticulous review habits to validate AI-generated code, documentation, and operational recommendations before production use.
• We need the ability to balance developer experience, operational excellence, security, and governance when designing reusable platform capabilities.

• We represent Cloud Platform engineering on AWS infrastructure enablement work with Data Engineering teams.
• We design, write, review, test, and maintain Terraform for AWS data lake infrastructure using GitHub repositories and pull requests.
• We build reusable patterns for S3 storage zones, IAM roles and policies, KMS encryption, networking, observability, and environment deployment.
• We use GitHub Actions, GitHub Packages, and GitHub Copilot-assisted workflows to support delivery, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
• We review and validate AI-assisted outputs before using them in production or shared platform repositories.
• We embed security, compliance, tagging, naming, logging, monitoring, and operational standards into reusable infrastructure patterns.
• We create documentation, handoff notes, runbooks, and support guidance for deployed data lake capabilities.
• We continuously improve Terraform modules, platform capabilities, and engineering standards based on operational feedback and evolving AWS services.
• We enable Data Engineering teams with reusable infrastructure patterns, onboarding guidance, documentation, and self-service platform capabilities.
• We partner with Data Engineering teams to optimize AWS infrastructure for cost, performance, scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency.
• We contribute to the evolution of Cloud Platform standards, reusable modules, golden paths, and the internal developer experience.
• We work remotely, may travel domestically, and must be willing to support after hours and on-call needs as required.
