Unit Details

We are a high acuity, fast-paced MICU. Some frequently occurring procedures include- Bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, para and thoracentesis, code blue. The standard ratio is 2:1, however, if we have boarders waiting to transfer to an inpatient unit, that ratio could increase to 4:1 (boarders grouped together). Floating is not out of the question; travelers should be prepared to float down to tele units should census require it. Most units are fully staffed so floating would be rare but travelers should be prepared.
