Power BI Developer

Overview:
A maritime classification company in Spring, TX is seeking a mid-level Power BI Developer to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of reporting and dashboard solutions for internal surveyors and engineering teams. This individual will play a key role in modernizing existing reporting, and potentially help transition legacy IBM Cognos dashboards into Power BI. This position is required to work onsite 3 days / week, with work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Based on knowledge and years of experience, this position offers an hourly pay rate of $50-60/hr.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Maintain and enhance existing Power BI dashboards used by surveyors and engineering teams
Support and troubleshoot current IBM Cognos reporting environment
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and build new dashboards in Power BI
Assist with the long-term migration strategy from Cognos to Power BI, including redesigning legacy reports
Ensure data accuracy, performance optimization, and usability of dashboards

Required Skills & Experience

4-7 years of experience with Power BI development, including building and maintaining dashboards and reports
Experience with IBM Cognos development (reporting, dashboards, or administration)
Strong experience with data visualization best practices and presenting data to technical end u (engineers, operations teams, etc.)
Experience working with complex datasets and transforming data for reporting purposes
Ability to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical reporting solutions


Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with migrating dashboards from Cognos (or another reporting tool) to Power BI
Exposure to IBM Maximo or PTC Windchill
Experience supporting industrial, engineering, maritime, or asset-heavy environments
Familiarity with SQL or other data querying languages
