Full Stack Engineer, Consultant (Hybrid)

OVERVIEW

Backed by a major non‑profit healthcare consortium, our client is a newly formed, well‑funded healthcare technology spin‑off on a mission to fix a fundamentally broken industry. They are building the universal operating system for healthcare—an AI‑native, event‑driven platform connecting payers, providers, and patients. This is not about maintaining legacy systems; it is about building a disruptive, intelligent data hub from the ground up. This is a hands‑on, coding‑heavy role for a builder, not an enterprise architect. You will write production code every day across the full platform—front‑end, back‑end, and full‑stack work spanning AI and chat, document processing, analytics, and claims processing, all on a single modern tech stack. The environment is startup‑minded with CI/CD and full end‑to‑end ownership. Developers own setup, testing, and integration testing without handing work off across silos, which lets the team move faster than a traditional enterprise structure allows. We are looking for self‑driven engineers who push back with suggestions rather than waiting for direction. Must be eligible to work on W2 without sponsorship. Not eligible for C2C. Pay Rate: $75–$85/hr Duration: 6‑month contract‑to‑hire Location: Hybrid; 2x/week in office—San Diego, Long Beach, Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, or Oakland (SF Bay Area)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the design and delivery of major full stack features or services with cross‑team or cross‑product impact, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards. Lead design and delivery of complex services or systems with cross‑team impact, ensuring scalability, reliability, and integration across components. Develop secure, testable, and maintainable code aligned with modern architectural patterns. Implement system integrations and manage reliable data models for distributed components. Ensure applications are cloud‑ready and compatible with established CI/CD workflows. Own technical decision‑making for complex initiatives, evaluating trade‑offs across performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability. Leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, code quality, and documentation, while critically applying outputs. Serve as a technical leader for delivery teams, influencing architecture, design, and implementation decisions through expertise rather than formal authority.

QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of software engineering experience, currently hands‑on at a Senior, Staff, or Principal level. This is a builder role; candidates whose recent work is primarily architecture or oversight are not a fit. Deep, current expertise in Node.js and TypeScript. This is the core stack; Java and .NET / C# backgrounds are not a match. Strong front‑end experience with React. Deep experience building APIs and back‑end services. Self‑driven working style with a track record of proposing improvements and pushing back constructively rather than waiting for direction. Strong communication skills with proactive, tech‑lead‑caliber reporting expected at the principal level. Cloud‑native development experience in Azure, hands‑on with Kubernetes (AKS), Docker, and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code). System Design & Platform Experience Experience building multi‑tenant SaaS platforms. Strong understanding of data isolation, scalability, and system design. Experience with event‑driven architecture and integrations. Nice to Have AI integration experience. API gateways / MuleSoft. Healthcare or other regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2).
