Job Requirements Candidates must be certified by the Rhode Island Department of Education in one of the following general education areas and one of the following special education areas: General Education Early Childhood Education Teacher, Grades PK - 3 Elementary Education Teacher, Grades K - 6 Special Education Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, Birth through Grade 3 Elementary Special Education Teacher, Grades K - 8 Preference will be given to candidates who hold or can demonstrate progress towards an English as a Second Language certification issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education. Preference will be given to applicants who meet the Awareness or Proficiency requirement per the RI Right to Read Act.
