Principal Software Engineer - Austin

Salary: $142,000 - 194,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a BS degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant functional area, along with 3 years of software engineering or related experience.
• We prefer a bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• We prefer 5+ years of experience in software development.
• We prefer experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, TCL, SQL, C/C++, JavaScript, Perl, and shell scripting.
• We prefer experience with Linux, UNIX, or Solaris, including system administration.
• We prefer experience developing automated test software for server systems.
• We prefer a basic understanding of computer architecture and hardware components.
• We prefer experience with networking and connectivity.
• We prefer the ability to test hardware, perform software downloads and installations, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
• We prefer experience writing test cases to validate software quality.
• We prefer the ability to document test procedures, issue resolutions, and test results.
• We prefer familiarity with the product development lifecycle.
• We prefer experience with databases, though this is not required.
• Minimum job qualifications include a bachelors degree, masters degree, doctorate, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, paired with the stated years of software development experience.
• We require demonstrated skills in data analysis, agile methodologies, automation, compliance, quality assurance, scripting, software test plans, user experience development, code review, embedded systems, and software estimation.
• We require 6 years of experience with programming or scripting languages such as SQL, C/C++, and JavaScript.
• We require 4 years of experience working with databases.
• Preferred qualifications also include 1 year of experience with operating budgets and/or project financials.
• Preferred qualifications also include 3 years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud.

• We design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, and related systems.
• We apply basic to intermediate software architecture knowledge to carry out development work aligned to provided specifications.
• We enhance existing software architectures and occasionally recommend architectural improvements.
• We perform moderately complex problem-solving with guidance on company policies and procedures.
• We develop code for test infrastructure and connectivity.
• We test customer systems.
• We carry out software downloads.
• We troubleshoot issues to maintain the highest performance standards for assigned products.
• We partner with engineering teams to create and implement test plans.
• We provide technical support to the production floor.
• We help drive design and process improvements for assigned products.
