Junior Network Technician

Junior Network TechnicianProvides primary implementation, management, and support for core technology infrastructure systems, including but not limited to switches, routers, and servers. Maintains monitoring and documentation for core infrastructure. Works closely with vendors and service providers with installations and provides College data and voice connectivity along with troubleshooting issues. Responds to incidents in the on-call rotation. Performs essential functions below with guidance from Network Technicians.Performs server and network administrationInstalls, configures, diagnoses and repairs network switching infrastructureProvides technical level II troubleshooting and resolution for a College-wide networkInstalls, configures, diagnoses and repairs all server infrastructureMaintains all aspects of the infrastructure through regular upgrades, patches and replacementInstalls, configures, diagnoses and repairs major infrastructure services, such as, but not limited to: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, EmailCollaborates with all internal and external stakeholders to implement the best technology solutionWorks with vendors to resolve infrastructure issuesDemonstrated willingness and ability to travel to various College sites for installs and updatesParticipates in an on-call rotation for approximately a week approximately every monthPerforms other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsAssociate Degree Significant related experience may substitute for educationMinimum of one year of fulltime IT networking experience, may include internship and co-operative experienceDemonstrated network management and support experienceDemonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or teamDemonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem-solving methods in adaptive situationsKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesPossess strong organizational and time-management skillsPossess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to foster a team environment and work collaborativelyAbility to research and analyze issues and develop solutionsAbility to work accurately with great attention to detailAbility to effectively complete work assignments independentlyPossess comprehensive knowledge of IT Network theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situationsDemonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivityAbility to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projectsAbility to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projectsAbility to facilitate top-level collaboration while managing sensitive issuesAbility to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and qualityPossess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationshipsCritical thinker with ability to identify and implement efficiencies within daily operationsAbility to occasionally lift up to fifty pounds of networking or computer equipmentPossess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse populationTarget Starting Salary Range: $43,000 to $46,500The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within this range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).Special Note: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure.Special Instructions to Applicants: During the application process, you may be required to attach a cover letter and/or resume.
