Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting a variety of desserts.

• Demonstrates a practical approach in all bakery products produced in the Pastry Department, ensuring quality, presentation, and consistency meet company standards.

• Helps in the development of standardized recipes for all menu items.

• Ensures recipes are precise and updated as necessary.

• Guarantees all prepared food products meet specifications and established standards.

• Responsible for the complete preparation, cleaning, and organization of the pastry station before each shift.

• Stays updated on industry trends in the world of pastry and bakery.

• Bake fresh cakes, desserts, and breads for the restaurant.

• Prepares stations adequately and on time for each service period.

• Ensures the freshness of food and ingredients by checking their quality, controlling old and new products, and rotating inventory.

• Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients according to recipes.

• Calculates anticipated food consumption, places orders or requisitions supplies, or retrieves food from storage.

• Consults with supervisory staff to plan menus, considering factors like costs and special event needs.

• Maintains records and accounts.

• Understands the impact of kitchen operations on the property's overall financial goals and objectives.

• Follows all company safety and security policies; reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to the supervisor.

• Completes safety training and certifications.

• Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others, supporting the team to achieve common goals.

• Ensures uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, and maintains confidentiality of proprietary information.

• Performs other reasonable tasks assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Hospitality oriented.

• Previous experience as a pastry chef or in a similar role in a fine dining environment.

• Ability to handle difficult situations effectively.

• Capable of working quickly and efficiently, especially under pressure.

• Must be able to bend, squat, stretch, stand for 2-3 consecutive hours, and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Must perform well under pressure, even with minimal supervision.

• Technical knowledge in pastry.

• Bilingual (Spanish and English)
