Details Float Pool position covering pediatric units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med-Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) 36 or 48 hours per week Every other weekend required Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed Patient ratio of 1:2 Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date) 2 years of PICU experience required Comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and Pediatric ED Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending) Epic EMR experience required Teaching hospital experience required Previous travel nursing experience required (or equivalent PICU/NICU float pool experience) Peds PACU experience highly preferred BSN preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Additional Information Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a dedicated float pool Must float within scope of practice as needed per facility floating policy Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, with all time off disclosed at time of consideration No additional RTO approved after offer acceptance, and no RTO approved during the first 2 weeks of assignment Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date Candidates with previous UVA Health employment as permanent staff or travelers must have at least 1 year separation and leadership approval External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding First-time travelers may be considered if they have relevant PICU/NICU float pool experience American Traveler Job ID P-742089.
