As an Actuarial Analyst on the Financial Analysis team, you will help shape the future of healthcare, support the Manager Actuary, and collaborate on projects across CalOptima Health. The position allows partial telework. If approved, work in California only, with in‑office attendance in Orange, CA minimum two days per week. Responsibilities Provide analytical and actuarial support for monthly Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserve estimates, semi‑annual Chronic Illness and Disability Payment System (CDPS) risk scores, and annual rate‑development templates. Assist the Manager Actuary and other departments across CalOptima Health, including ad‑hoc projects. Support the team in short‑ and long‑term goals, audit reporting, and data reconciliation. Your Contributions To the Team Program Support (95%) Participate in a mission‑driven culture of high‑quality performance, with member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity, and accountability. Assist the team in carrying out departmental responsibilities and collaborate on short‑ and long‑term goals. Prepare, analyze, and report monthly IBNR reserve estimates. Prepare and analyze semi‑annual CDPS risk scores and report the financial impact of risk‑adjusted capitation rates. Reconcile monthly paid claims between Facets reports and the data warehouse. Reconcile and analyze weekly pharmacy invoices with the data warehouse. Prepare standard reports related to claims data and/or reserve estimation for internal and external auditors. Other (5%) Complete other projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, economics, business administration, or related field and 1 year experience with spreadsheets and databases. Equivalent education and experience may qualify. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related field. Minimum of 1 actuarial exam with a passing score. Actuarial experience or equivalent. Experience with managed health care programs and financial modeling. Regulatory Requirements None. Knowledge & Abilities Develop rapport and maintain effective working relationships with CalOptima Health leadership, staff, and external contacts. Work independently and exercise sound judgment. Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing. Work a flexible schedule; available for evening and weekend events. Organize, analyze, problem‑solve, and possess project management skills. Work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. Manage multiple projects and identify collaboration opportunities. Motivate and lead multi‑program teams and external committees/coalitions. Utilize computer and appropriate software (Microsoft Office, etc.) to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and other information. Physical Requirements Ability to visually read information from screens, forms, and printed materials. Ability to speak clearly in conversation. Hearing ability for verbal communication. Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, reaching, flexibility, and movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, and prolonged sitting. Lifting and moving objects 10–25 pounds. Benefits and Compensation Competitive compensation: Pay Grade 310, $72,096–$115,353. Partial Telework eligibility (California only). Office schedule: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm daily, with in‑office attendance required three days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; first week of every month in office Monday–Friday.
