Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist at our Lynnwood, WA location. Hours are Monday - Friday 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM or 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM. Job Summary The Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist works under limited supervision performing advanced assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military standards, Food and Drug Administration standards, and other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions. This role emphasizes expertise in soldering, particularly micro soldering. The Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist communicates with all levels of the Value Stream and performs visual inspections. Essential Functions Perform advanced soldering tasks, including micro-soldering, to assemble components and subassemblies. Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies. Test finished assemblies for quality and functionality. Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy; proactively identify safety concerns or issues. Train and mentor new employees and other team members in soldering techniques, processes, and Crane tools. Prioritize daily demand per Master Schedule Report for the cell(s) they are working in. Discuss and problem-solve quality issues with Manufacturing Engineers, the Quality group, and leadership. Create work orders, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for quality and material issues, and First Article Inspections (FAIs) at "In process/End Item" as well as other assorted assembly functions. Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement. Cross-train to work on all processes within the value stream. Identify and report issues to leadership. Complete job-related company training courses. Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI's, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise. Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary. Any other task assigned by supervisor or management. Non-Essential Functions Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits Review work instructions for errors and/or clarification improvements May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies Minimum Qualifications Experience: 5+ years of Small Component Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment Minimum 1 year of specific micro-soldering experience Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; proficiency in reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents) of the English language; basic computer skills (understanding of basic software) Abilities: Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required; manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; adept hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness; ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams; ability to work well in high paced work environment in a high volume setting Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent; fine soldering certificate or equivalent experience Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Preferred Qualifications Ability to coach and mentor as well as have input into employment process Ability to do part marking, wrapping and packaging finished goods and transport to other work areas Ability to ensure all paperwork and work order transactions are completed appropriately and close work orders Ability to perceive and pre-determine sequence of operations and installation requirements from sketches and oral instructions Experience maintaining equipment on a stringent calibration schedule IPC solder certification Designated Inspection certification Working Conditions Working conditions could include a Class 7 or 8 Cleanroom, or general manufacturing environment Up to 7 hours of microscope work daily Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises Standing: 25% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task Sitting: 75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task Lifting (in pounds): up to 40 pounds Pushing (in pounds): up to 40 pounds Mental/Visual: use of soldering equipment, microscopes/magnifying glasses Workspace: assembly cell Top Benefits Benefits: Health care, dental, vision, life and disability insurance starting the first day of the month following your start date.
