VP, Real Estate Asset Management (Senior Housing)

We have been retained to identify an experienced Senior Housing investment professional for a Vice President-level asset management role at a highly regarded institutional real estate investment manager. This is a hands-on, high-impact position sitting within a growing Senior Housing & Active Adult platform offering genuine scope to shape strategy, drive performance, and contribute to a best-in-class team.

The firm ($75B AUM) manages a diversified portfolio of senior housing and active adult investments across the institutional real estate landscape. This hire will play a central role in the day-to-day execution of asset management strategies, operator engagement, and business plan delivery with direct exposure to the full investment lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Asset Management & Business Plan Execution

• Execute approved asset-level business plans across Senior Housing & Active Adult investments in coordination with senior leadership
• Monitor financial and operational performance across assigned assets, including monthly performance analysis, forecasting, and KPI tracking
• Conduct regular operator calls and periodic property visits to review performance, staffing, leasing trends, expense controls, and capital initiatives
• Partner with third-party operators to drive occupancy, rate growth, margin improvement, and NOI performance
• Track and oversee capital expenditure programs and value-enhancement initiatives
• Identify operational risks and develop actionable mitigation strategies

Investment & Portfolio Collaboration

• Collaborate with the Investments team during underwriting and due diligence including review of operating assumptions, market data, and operator capabilities
• Support annual budgeting and reforecasting processes with operators and internal stakeholders
• Manage refinancing, recapitalization, and disposition processes, including coordination of diligence materials and lender/buyer requests
• Contribute to the development and refinement of asset management best practices, reporting standards, and portfolio analytics

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Prepare investment committee memoranda, quarterly asset reports, and investor-facing materials
• Present performance updates to senior management with clarity and conviction
• Work closely with Investments, Research, Portfolio Management, and Capital Markets teams across the investment lifecycle

Team Development

• Train, mentor, and support the development of Analysts and Associates
• Review work product and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team culture

Requirements:

• 5–8 years of experience in Senior Housing asset management this is a non-negotiable requirement
• Background within an institutional real estate investment manager, REIT, private equity platform, or comparable environment
• Strong understanding of property-level financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assets and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Direct experience working with third-party operators or joint venture partners
• Strong analytical capabilities able to synthesize complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights
• Effective communicator with experience preparing investment memoranda and presenting to senior stakeholders
• Collaborative team player with strong cross-functional engagement skills
• High degree of integrity, accountability, and sound judgement
• Self-starter with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and strong attention to detail
